Hall Monitors
— Mayor Adams' new top deputy, Randy Mastro, is stirring up ethics concerns even before starting the job. Mastro will continue representing Madison Square Garden and James Dolan in a lawsuit brought by Charles Oakley, raising questions about conflicts of interest given MSG's significant business ties with the city. Watchdog groups are blasting the move, pointing to Dolan's financial support for Adams and MSG's lobbying efforts at City Hall. (NY Daily News)
— The Manhattan DA is moving forward with a corruption case against Ingrid Lewis-Martin, a former top advisor to Mayor Adams. The details of the case haven't been released, but it signals continued scrutiny of the mayor's inner circle despite his personal charges being dropped by the DOJ. (The City)
— Eric Adams is stirring up trouble with his fashion choices... again. The mayor celebrated MLB opening day by sporting a hat that combines both Yankees and Mets logos, a move that has fans of both teams throwing shade. Meanwhile, rival Andrew Cuomo played it safe, attending the Yankees game in a suit, and no team gear whatsoever. (NY Post)
Capitol Gains
— Looks like New York's state budget negotiations aren't exactly going so smoothly. Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie says talks are at a standstill, and members are heading home with the budget deadline looming next Tuesday. Heastie also voiced his frustration with policy decisions being crammed into the budget, as they bog down the negotiation timeline. (State of Politics)
— Trump wants more natural gas pipelines in NY, and activists are pressuring Gov. Hochul to block them. Environmentalists worry Hochul might trade pipeline support for Trump easing up on congestion pricing objections, but the governor's office is staying mum. The energy debate comes as Hochul faces reelection and the state struggles to meet its renewable energy goals and keep soaring utility bills down. (Lohud)
— New York State wants you! Gov. Hochul's "You're Hired" initiative, aimed at recruiting federal workers axed by the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has received over 1,300 applications. The state is trying to fill over 7,000 open positions, ranging from first responders to engineers. (State of Politics)

Trail Mix
— Did Andrew Cuomo lie under oath about his relationships? According to bombshell testimony obtained by the Post, a former aide testified that Cuomo and his top aide, Melissa DeRosa, had an 'emotional romantic relationship' while he was governor. The testimony claims DeRosa confided in the aide about the relationship and that they considered denying it publicly. Curiously, Cuomo denied having any romantic relationship with any staff member when questioned under oath. (NY Post)
— Elise Stefanik's UN ambassador nomination has been yanked by the White House due to GOP concerns about their slim House majority. Trump claims he needs Stefanik in Congress to push his agenda. Despite anticipation for her confirmation, losing her seat was seen as too risky in the current political climate. (Politico)
— Andrew Cuomo's mayoral campaign continues to gain steam, even among Eric Adams' former allies. Lorraine Grillo, Adams' former first deputy, hosted a fundraiser for Cuomo, marking another blow to the current mayor. (NY Post)
ANOTHER ONE: Greg Meeks is expected to endorse Andrew Cuomo for mayor, a snub to Adrienne Adams, whom he supported for City Council speaker. The endorsement will be announced at a rally in Queens this Sunday. (Politico)
